Fabric Haul

I thought I’d share the largest haul of fabric I’ve ever done in one trip to Joann’s!

I walked away with 31 yards of fabric, about half of it is flannel and the other half is great cotton fabric.

The winner of my facebook giveaway  will receive one reusable sandwich and one reusable snack bag in their choice of fabric! The winner will be announced on June 15, 2015, so enter quickly.

Jeans to New Creations!

If you can’t tell, I’m on a bit of an upcycled denim kick.  You can view my previous denim post here.

This past week I designed and created another new creation out of the stacks of jeans patiently waiting in my sewing room.

This time I create an insulated lunch tote.

I think the design came out great for the first try and I plan to re-vamp it a bit.

The great thing about this bag is that it can be made in a variety of fabrics and still be pretty and functional.  And who doesn’t want both?

Just to share, the front pocket will be made much larger next time!  I didn’t take into account the gusset and most of the pocket is on the bottom of the bag…oops.

Do you like this bag?  What about the embroidered butterfly?  My machine is awesome and I can embroider lots of things!  Let me know what you like or dislike about this prototype.  I’m really excited about it.

A word of caution:  If you attempt to sew  denim, be sure to use your denim needle, otherwise you might break two or three (I might be speaking from experience!).

Happy Looking!
